Moved In, Well Almost

Moved In, Well Almost
Luis, the construction fellow, left for home (Obregon) on Sunday. He had a 5 gallon pail with all his tools in, and all of his clothes, etc. that he had been using here. He loaded it all into Irenes car and away they went. We assumed that Irene was driving him home, Obregon is about 125 kms. from Guaymas; but a few minutes later Irene was back. She had just driven him uptown to the bus station. I am not sure how his tool pail would fair on the bus trip, maybe he took it on with him, who knows. Anyway, he is gone supposedly to return in November to do lots more work. Hopefully!!
We started moving upstairs yesterday. We got a fellow who lives up the hill from us to help Roy move the big, heavy stuff which helped; but they were sure hot and sweaty when they were done. The rest of the stuff we did in bits and pieces, putting it away and setting it up as we went. We went to look for a TV stand and small table for between our recliners; but didn't get anything, we will look around some more before buying. We did buy a small microwave; but I forgot to get popcorn! We were tired and decided to go out for supper, we realised just before leaving that our friends place is closed on Mondays, so decided to go uptown. The restaurant we intended to go to uptown was also closed, so we ended up at another place we hadn't tried yet. It is close to the Plaza in centro and we had never been there as we are usually uptown before it opens at around 4 PM. We tried the "papas locas", that had been recommended to us. It is an unbelieveable concoction, that is absolutely delicioso! They bring it to you in a tin foil packet and it doesn't look like it would fill you up; but by the time you are half done, you are wondering where you will put the rest of it! It is very rich. What it is--- a baked potato with carne asada(grilled meat) chopped as usual for here in tiny pieces, some niblets of corn, cream, cheese(melted), I think there were also some pieces of peppers in it too. As with every meal here it was served with tortillas, 2 different salsas, guacamole, cucumbers and radish slices and lots of smiles. The waitress was laughing as she saw that we were having trouble finishing it. The restaurant itself is painted a bright orange and you can either eat inside or outside. It is wide open, no windows with glass in, the openings are covered with roll down shutters when they close. The TV was tuned to a telenovela where the fast paced action went from a witch threatening some people to another fellow being tied up, to some women arguing about something I didn't catch (probably a man, ha ha). When we finally managed to finish eating, we decided to walk off some of our supper and strolled to the malecon and looked out over the water and then off to the plaza to watch the children feeding the pigeons, under the watchful eyes of their mothers, and the old gentlemen quietly snoozing and reading their newspapers. The church bells began to ring and some of the park bench people got up to go to mass. A nice relaxing time, before hopping the bus home and dragging some more of our stuff up the stairs. We were relaxing at the computers when Ciro came up to see how we were doing. He seemed to like the way we have fixed up the place (he had seen bits and pieces of what we had bought, but not all together). He left and returned a few minutes later with Irene, she was laughing as she told us that Ciro told her she had to come up and see it. They were teasing us that when we return from our housesit we will find him and Irene living up here and we will have to live in their house. Irene is excited about Luis building them a patio upstairs when he returns, and then we can be neighbors up here as we were downstairs. I sat outside and watched a fantastic display of lightning flashing behind the clouds and around the mountains, better than watching a movie! Absolutely beautiful.
Today we will finish moving the rest of our stuff up here and then finish cleaning downstairs, I did some of it yesterday, when I was tired up lugging stuff up the stairs. I will probably have to go and get some food now; although until I get the connections for the stove I won't be doing too much cooking. Hmmm..... wonder why I am dragging on getting those things?
