Packing

We have been busy for the last 10 days since listing the house. I have been sorting through all the contents of the house. We are only taking with us what will fit in the car so almost everything must go. I set up in a room with several boxes and a BIG garbage bag beside me. Some things I can't bear to get rid of so my sister will store these things for us. Things to sell, things to throw out, papers for the accountant.....the list goes on and on and on. It doesn't help that I am a packrat, I still have all my sons stuffed animals and they are almost 30 and almost 24!! The 24 year old just shook his head when I asked him if he wanted his teddy bears!! The stories Pooh Bear could tell, he is a well travelled bear. He has travelled Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and all through the U.S. to Texas; but sad to say his now almost 24 year old owner no longer is interested in him. We decided he would have to be thrown out as I am sure he no longer conforms to safety standards....isn't it amazing that our children survived with all the dangerous things that they were allowed to play with!! Along with all this I have been trying to keep the place tidy for the real estate showings.

We are both still not feeling well, have gotten medications, used them all almost and still coughing all night and feeling dragged out. Roy was supposed to return to work; but hasn't been able to yet.

We did get our income tax done; although we still have not taken it to the accountant. We have a few days yet to do that. I have also been on the phone trying to tie up loose financial ends.

Well, it' official, our home is now for sale. We listed with the real estate yesterday. Lots of thoughts going through my mind as I watched her put up the For Sale signs. Lots of things have happened in my life since moving here 11 years ago. Lots of landscaping work...in other words, lots of blood, sweat and tears. Will be hard to leave here; but have lots of new and different experiences to look forward to. Time to move on.

We are both still sick, Roy worse than me. He finally broke down and went to the dr. the other day and got some medicine.

I have been busy packing and garbaging!! We have also been having company, so life has been and continues to be busy!

We got all our income tax stuff today from my step daughter, so will have to do that in the next few days, hopefully it will not be too painful.

We Are Back

We Are Back

We are back in all ways now. Not only are we back in Alberta; but our computer is back from the computer hospital, thank goodness. It was only gone for one day; but it seemed like much longer. We are so used to just going and looking things up on it, that it seemed like my left arm was missing. I know the saying goes: it feels like my right arm is missing; but you see I am left handed, so for me the feeling is reversed.
Everyone took the news that we would be selling and moving to Mexico without any fuss. I think that they had realised from the blog how much we love it there.
We miss the color, the noise (I know it sounds crazy; but we could almost set our watches to the horn of our watermans truck in the morning), the sea, and mostly the people. We miss sitting outside and chatting with people as the sun goes down. We miss the warm air, the sea and basically everything. I miss the cheap, fresh veggies. Things seem so drab here now in contrast, and of course, very quiet living out in the country as we do. Last night as I watched 5 deer cross our pasture, I began to think of things that I will miss about Alberta. I will miss our deer, of course. Family; but then the majority of them I only see about once a year anyway. The yummy deli meats, and yes, even hotdogs. The hotdogs and deli meats in Guaymas are I think an acquired taste. It is a very short list, so far. I won't miss WINTER or our chilly winds. People have asked me if it is hard to be somewhere where you don't understand the language. HMMM..... I think that might mean Canada. When everywhere I phone I have to wait for 10 minutes to finally get to a human and then that human doesn't speak recognisable english I find it frustrating. At least in Mexico I know that they don't speak english and communicating is my problem.

We haven't yet listed the property; but have had one family look at it, from word of mouth. We will probably list it on Monday, as our realtor is now on holiday, guess where--Mexico! Pretty funny.
I have been busy sorting through things (when I haven't been on the phone). Four boxes set up beside me- yard sale, accountant, sister, Roys daughter, and of course lots of BIG garbage bags! Stay tuned, it may not be fun; but it will be interesting.

Back In Canada

Back In Canada

We had an uneventful trip back to Canada and our home in Alberta, with stops in Saskatchewan to visit with some family and friends there.

We are finding it cold here, of course, compared to Mexico and have definately experienced culture shock, especially at the grocery store. We are both not feeling very well, having caught colds on our return.

We will be busy for the next few months as we have decided to sell our property here and move to Mexico permanently. Whether we will stay there forever remains to be seen; but we are going to try it and see how we like it. We have had one family looking at the property and we haven't even listed it yet, gotta love the moccasin telegraph! We will have a busy spring and summer, getting everything ready to leave.

We are experiencing problems with our computer, so I will be taking it in for repairs today and won't be online until it is fixed.
