On Sunday we walked uptown and then hopped a bus to the next town of Empalme. It cost us .60 cents for the bus ticket. We went there to look around, as we had thought to live there when we first started looking at this area and also because Sunday is the day that they have their tianguis(spelling) or market. It is an open air market, with everything imaginable for sale. We wandered around for awhile, sat in the shade and had a coke and then grabbed the bus back to Guaymas. The stalls are set up with tarps over them and into the street, for shade, so Roy really had to watch his head as we were walking, lots high enough for me though. Lots of color, sound and smells. The market here is on Wednesday, so we intend to go to that one, the landlord gave us directions last night when we were chatting. The landlady came over yesterday with a big plate of breaded, fried "blue" shrimp, salad, spaghetti in a sauce with cheese, cucumbers and fresh salsa. Was that ever good! We had seen people selling fish, shrimp, etc. in Empalme; but didn't buy any as it didn't smell good. It was hot and the shrimp were sitting in bowls of water with no ice. Looked like a belly ache waiting to happen. We asked the landlord about it later and he said not to buy from them, so our instincts were right. Speaking of belly problems, neither one of us has been the least bit sick(so far) we have been in Mexico for 15 days now, so we are lucky I guess.
