Balloon Fiesta

Balloon Fiesta--Albuquerque, New Mexico
Yesterday was the first day of the Balloon Fiesta. The city is expecting approx. 700 balloons to lift off in the next 9 or 10 days and that over 1 million people will attend the various events. As we are not that people oriented I think that we will be doing our viewing from the house. This morning they had a mass ascension and we watched the balloons all take to the air, a very colorful morning. There are also evening "glow" events, fireworks, races, etc..
These photos are not very good; but hopefully will give you some idea of the color in the sky. If you click on the photos to enlarge them the balloons show up much better.

Hi Brenda - I enjoyed your 48 pictures - thanks for the effort, You have already covered a lot of ground ;-) I have seen the balloon show in New Mexico and we had one in Prescott, AZ. Also have seen one in Reno. They are fun and a great excuse to have a party ;-) They came so close to our house in AZ. The breathing dragons (that is how I describe their sound) would come so close to the house they would wake us up - not a bad way really. They are like giant lighted Christmas tree bulbs when you watch them at dawn or dusk. I'm interested in when you will leave for Mexico and how many miles you have gone and will go? Have a GREAT trip Brenda - we will leave soon too.
