I took these yesterday as we drove out of Guaymas on our way to San Carlos for breakfast. They are not the best quality as they were all taken out of the car window as we drove; but they will give you an idea of the land around here. Some of the tourist promotion stuff here brags about the beauty of the area, saying it is a place where, " the desert and the mountains meet the sea" and it is indeed beautiful in my mind.

Hills Or Mountains?
Are they hills or mountains? They are called both here by different people. Compared to the Rockie Mountains in Alberta/B.C. in Canada they are probably hills; but compared to the hills in Saskatchewan where I grew up they would be considered mountains. You can call them whatever you want.

Compared to Cancun and South Western Ontario, them thar are mountains in my mind! Lovely, thanks for the pics, I haven't had many mountains in my flat land life. :)
Yeah, good question.
there is also a "hill" in the middle of Santiago that to me is a mountain. My husband and I compromise and call it a hilltain.
Since I am in Florida I would call them big maintains
Darn - you should have let us know you were going to San Carlos for breakfast! Next time...
The mountains here seem much more "pointy" than the Cascades or Olympics in the Seattle area. Compared to 14,000+ foot Mt. Rainier, I'd call them foothills!
It’s all in the perspective of what you know. Last summer a friend from Iowa came to visit me in Portland, OR. I took her on a drive up into the Cascade Mountain Range to Mt. Hood. Then that night when we were at dinner at a restaurant on the 30th floor overlooking the city she was amazed that we had “mountains” in the city. They were just little hills to me or buttes but certainly not mountains.
Hi everyone. Yes, I guess it depends on where you are from as to how you perceive these rocks.
Cynthia,I had to pay the cable bill, go to the bank and get some groceries also, so with all those errands to get done didn't think of asking you to come along. Sorry, next time for sure, OR if you want to go some morning just shoot me an email and we will go before you start school.
