Happy New Year to you and yours, may the upcoming year be all that you wish it to be and more.
My new years resolution is the same as it has been for many, many years.
I RESOLVE NOT TO MAKE ANY RESOLUTIONS ON NEW YEARS.
I decided on this, as I mentioned many years ago, as I finally figured out that if something was important enough for me to do then I would do it regardless of the day or time of year. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
So have a great day and an even greater year. Bring it on 2014.

A Very Happy And Prosperous New Year To All, Un Muy Feliz y Próspero Año Nuevo A Todos
We are wishing everyone a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
It has been an interesting year for us. There have been some bad times family wise with my mom being ill. Hoping she will continue to improve now that she has been moved into a Rehab. facility. All we can do is hope for the best quality of life that is available to her at this time in her life. Also along family lines I was fortunate to get in contact with some family that I had never met and lucky enough to actually get to meet them this year. That was a great thing.
There have been changes in our Mexican family (our landlords) this year as well. Part of the family has moved into a home across the street, another member has moved away due to job obligations and another one has extended his family. Mostly good changes all around with them. Little Diego is now over a year old and is walking, well actually running and is beginning to talk. He is a real charmer. The neighborhood continues to invite us to their family fiestas and that is nice of them, we enjoy being asked to join in.
It has been a good year for us here and I am finding more and more things here that are keeping me busy, at times busier than I want to be and I am going to need to figure out how to say NO at times; but it is all good.
My Spanish progresses very slowly, not my teachers fault; but mine. My short term memory does not retain things well because of having Fibromyalgia and I have a difficult time remembering my verb tenses. Add to that the fact that I am extremely lazy about studying and it is not a good thing. I keep on with the classes once a week and enjoy the conversation with my teacher. She is a wonderful lady.
We took a few minutes last night to look at the rare New Years Eve Blue Moon, the landlord came up and looked at it with us and when I said I probably wouldn't be around for the next one, he said that he and Roy would watch it together. It was of course an evening with lots of fireworks going off.
The city here is gearing up for Carnaval in February. They showed the contestants for the queen and Rey Feo on the local news the other night and we were surprised to see our young neighbor in the lineup. I think Beto would be great at this, he is a very genial, fun loving young man and when I find a place where I can vote for him, we will. Last years Rey Feo was one of the announcers from the TV station and he did a good job.

Welcome 2007
Welcome 2007
Last evening as we watched the fireworks from our patio, we thought about all the changes that have happened in our lives in the last year. As the fireworks popped and cracked over our heads, we reminisced about the last year. This was our 2nd New Years Eve in Mexico and we have gone from being visitors to being happy and contented residents in this year.
We entered Mexico in October of 2005 and by January of 2006, we had already decided that we wanted to live here for longer than the 6 month winter vacation we had originally planned. We scoped out the city and ended up planning our new apt. at our landlords home. At the beginning of April, we returned to Canada for a fast paced spring/summer. We visited family, listed our home for sale/sold it, packed and sold our possessions. After an intense 3 months, we were ready to return to Mexico on a permanent basis. Our new apt. was not quite ready for us and we spent a couple of months in last winters apt. while we waited. We spent the time shopping and outfitting our new place, and moved in 2 weeks before we had to head up to Albuquerque, New Mexico. We spent the month of September there housesitting for a very nice couple. We visited with the homeowners from the previous house sit and met their new dog. We enjoyed our stay there and visited many wonderful sites. We returned to Guaymas, finished setting up our new home and settled in to enjoy life in the slow lane.
We have met some people, in person, through this blog and made some new friends. Others that we expected to met, have become missing in action, so to speak...as we have never heard from them again after they entered Mexico. What happened to them? Did they enjoy their trips? We will probably never know. We have met others online, through other blogs that we look forward to perhaps some day, actually meeting in person. We have met many friendly, wonderful people in our new home that have made our last year much more enjoyable than it would have been without them in our lives.
Words cannot convey how lucky and blessed we feel in being able to live our life the way that we are, in our new home. The people, the land, the weather, and everything else here never ceases to amaze us and bring joy to us.
What are our plans for 2007? So far, not too much that is written in stone. We will be returning to Albuquerque, New Mexico in April to house sit again for the first couple that we house sat for in October of 2005. We are looking forward to spending time with their dogs and visiting with our other house sit family and their pets. We also intend to head to Yuma, Arizona for a visit with some of Roy's family that winter there. We hope to do some travelling in Mexico, which we so far have not had time to do, due to our hectic schedule!!!
I am not sure that it is possible for 2007 to top 2006; but we will work on it.
We wish everyone, Peace, Joy and Happiness in the New Year.
