Here are a couple of photos of this mornings sunrise, it was beautiful as usual. It was much cooler here this morning 22C./72 F.. I took my coffee outside and sat and watched the sun come up over the mountains. Yes, I had my shawl over my shoulders as it was cool.

Young Alan the grandson of our landlord finds our thermometer a very interesting/amazing thing. Last night when they were up here visiting, he suddenly very excitedly started telling us, "abajo cero, abajo cero", we turned around and looked at him and he was laughing and pointing to the thermometer. Fortunately it was not, abajo cero (below zero); but we had a good laugh at his inventiveness. He is taking english in school, so he brought his book (printed by MacMillan) up last night so that I could quiz him; but after sitting in school much of the day, (his day in private school is longer than the normal school day here) he was not really into the quiz as much as grandpa was. He was bouncing up and down with lots of energy to burn. The children here do not have the opportunities to use their energy as they do in Canada. There are not the big yards to run in or the parks for them to play in. They spend a lot of time in the house, Alan does not play in the street unless someone from his family plays with him, as there are no children on our street that are his age.

We were going to go snorkeling today; but Ciro told us last night that his brother might come to install the railings today. He may also be persuaded to make the lid for our storage box. The carpenter that came and measured and gave us a price never showed up after that day. He had told us he would have it ready in 3 days and we did not take down his phone number. We haven't gone looking for him, as we may be better off having one made from metal anyway because of the sun, humidity and insects. We will see what happens today.

It is my mother in laws birthday today, she is a very active 83 year old lady (as of today). She is more active than I am, taking long walks with friends everyday. I hope she has a very happy birthday and I will try to phone her with the Yahoo phone later.

We bought a table for the patio and a couple of more patio chairs, so now we won't have to take out the house chairs when we get visitors. I also potted up a Yucca plant last night that Irene had given me the other day. I looked them up on the computer and read that they only flower after about 10 years and then die; but Ciro told me last night that this one flowers every year and does not die. That's a good thing! He also said that a lot of brides use the blooms as their bouquet when they get married. While reading I also found out that the Copa de Oro/Allemanda is poisonous, and last night Ciro kept telling Alan to stay away from it. When I asked him about it, he confirmed what I had read.

Ciro also told us an amusing story last night about one of the ladies in the neighborhood. Apparently she thinks she is a bruja (witch), albeit a white one and ladies come to her when they are having problems with their husbands. She also believes that she has a picture? of the Virgen of Guadalupe on her bedroom wall; but Ciro says that he saw nothing, so she told him he was a devil. We had a good laugh over that. He was thinks it is very funny that people still believe in things like this, and to be honest so do I. We then discussed all the Virgens that have appeared on sandwiches, buns, etc. and have been sold on Ebay. He was upset as his computer crashed and he has lost everything he had on it. I should have told him that maybe the bruja could have fixed it rather than the computer tech..
